Lace Knitting

On the 15th of this month, I got word that a friend had passed away. I came home that evening an immediately got out my yarn and needles and started a shawl. The pattern is called Checkerboard Lace. This has been in the back of my mind to do for some time, but felt there were other projects that were more pressing. Nope, it had to be this one. I was going great guns on the shawl for a few days. Then I got to a change in the first "real" section on the lace and scrambled it. I ripped it back to the 'idiot' knitting (as one person I knew called it). Garter stitch for the rest of you. Then I couldn't get it back on the needle. I had a friend give me some help with that and since it's a circular needle she ended up going the wrong way. But that I was able to fix pretty easily. Got the first section of the lace pattern done ok - again. When I went to start on the next variation of the pattern, I have been having trouble again. Guess I just need to get the "muscle memory" set for the new variation. I have a chat I participate in with the "If I'm knitting, I'm not eating" group on Spark People and one of the other ladies suggested using a marker thread (I think she called it something else)to keep up with which part of the pattern I'm on. I may have to try that because she said it was a big help if you have to rip back.

Keep those sticks moving everyone.

Well, guess you can say new user operator error! I thought that my welcome note had been published but found that it was just a draft. This past week I've had some computer problems and have not been able to get back to this to check on things.

In the mean time, I have been trying to finish my counted cross stitch. I have an idea on making a wall hanging but will have to do several other "pictures" to put with it. I do have the charts, fabric and probably most of the floss I will need for the others. I'm also involved in a group project that is just getting out of the planning stage. It will be a Marian quilted wall hanging for our church.

I really want to get back to my knitting for a while. I haven't been able to work on it for several days.

More soon,

Welcome

Welcome to Gloria's Needle Nook. I do a variety of handicrafts with needles such as knit, crochet, counted cross stitch and an occaisional piece of needlepoint. Being a typical SHE (sidetracked home executive). I have several projects going at the same time. Right now I have one knitting project on the needles, two counted cross stitch in progress, and plans for a crewel embroidery and one committed knit project in the works.
